Working with the young people and staff from Forsythia Youth Group in Merthyr’s Gournos estate is proving to be a an uplifting experience. I hope that the young people are enjoying the sessions there too. They appear to be having some fun.
We are looking at some of footage that’s been produced from the project so far; The R&D film (produced with the a grant from Arts Council Wales) and footage from the new project “Energy+Notion”.
We have been looking at new time-lapse footage that shows the changing energy landscape in Wales. From Miller Argent’s Ffross-y-fran open cast mine (the mine is the biggest in the UK and it can be seen from the window of the classroom) through to wind-farms (the UK’s biggest onshore wind-farm is being constructed less that 6 miles away). We will also be looking at footage from nuclear, solar and tidal power in Wales in the coming weeks.
We made a short stop motion film just outside the youth centre that I’ll put up here soon.
Yesterday we looked at some 3D portraiture and then the young people started posing and shooting some images that I’ll put into a 3D space for the next time we meet!
We’ll start doing some interviews with the young people to see what their opinion is on the changes in Wales’ energy landscape.
